Public Relations & Engagement Consultant

Social Insights is seeking an experienced public relations specialist to manage media relations and to promote the unique and specialized value of our organization. This role will require identifying and providing effective communication with media outlets, stakeholders, and target audiences to build strong relationships and increase media coverage. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in social media, public relations strategies, and crisis communications.

As a public relations specialist, you will collaborate with PR and communications specialists to develop and implement PR campaigns and communication strategies. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, or a related field, and several years of experience working as a PR professional.

Responsibilities

  • Raise Social Insights Research’s and the CEO’s public profile

  • Book 3-4 CEO speaking engagements per year (public/podcast/virtual engagements)

  • Adding CEO to expert list for quotes

  • Supporting in identification, securing, and promotion of 4-5 yearly publications

  • Develop a comms strategy for Social Insights Research and Liberatory Research including:

    • Identifying where to publish and most unique and high-profile channels for engagement and creation

    • Articulating our company differentiators and voice

    • Facilitate Social Insights Research in thought-partnership about past/present partnerships to influence the field and have other allies boosting our work and influence

    • Evaluating our current influence, reach, and audience gaps (IG, LinkedIn, mailing list, etc.)

Qualifications & Skills

To be considered for the role, candidates should have:

  • Experience. At least 3-5 years of experience in media relations or corporate communications with a focus on public perception.

  • Writing skills. Strong writing skills to create clear, engaging press releases and other external communication materials.

  • Verbal communication skills. Excellent verbal communication skills for interacting with media, clients, and stakeholders.

  • Project management abilities. Strong problem-solving and project management skills to handle multiple PR initiatives.

  • Proficiency in social media. Experience managing social media platforms to foster a positive public image and promote brand messages.

  • Interpersonal competencies. Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and other PR professionals.

  • Education. A bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, English, or a related field.
