— Paulo Coelho, in The Alchemist

Christyl joined the Social Insights team in April 2020.

Dr. Christyl Wilson Ebba believes that research should leave people feeling seen, valued, and more connected to their own wisdom. As the daughter of Liberian immigrants, she is committed to advancing equity and collective well-being. She is particularly passionate about designing research and evaluation processes that honor lived experience, challenge extractive practices, and create opportunities for reflection and learning. Before joining Social Insights in 2020, Christyl served as a Teach for America corps member and program manager at a mentoring organization for girls of color.

At Social Insights, Christyl leads and supports projects for foundations, nonprofits, and movement organizations. She specializes in mixed-methods and community-based participatory approaches that center and uplift marginalized voices. She is also passionate about creating accessibility through creative data collection, data visualization, and intentional report design. Christyl has led national research on the gendered and racialized impact of COVID-19 for Black Feminist Future, citywide research on community safety in Philadelphia for the Movement Alliance Project, and statewide power-building efforts in Washington with OneAmerica. Other work at Social Insights includes partnerships with the Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective (BEAM), Black Organizing for Leadership and Dignity (BOLD), Southern Center for Human Rights, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Wallace Foundation, The Embodiment Institute, and Magnolia Mother's Trust.

Outside of work, Christyl enjoys traveling, practicing yoga, knitting, listening to podcasts, and seeing the world through her children’s eyes.
